Mike Duyck

Mike Duyck retired in July 2019 from being Fire Chief of Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, Oregon’s largest fire district with over 33 years of experience in the fire service. He joined TVF&R in 1989, served all ranks of emergency services, fleet services, human resources, logistics, emergency management, and government affairs before he became Fire Chief in September 2010. Chief Duyck has a Bachelor of Science in Fire Business Administration and an Associate in Fire Science. He holds certifications in emergency operations and is an Oregon-certified Paramedic. He completed the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Program, is designated as a Center for Public Safety Excellence Chief Fire Officer and is a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers.

A past President of the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association and of the Western Fire Chiefs Association, Mike also and served on the IAFC Board of Directors. He served as Chair of Oregon’s State Interoperability Executive Council and is a member of the DHS Executive Committee for the Public Safety Advisory Committee for FirstNet. Mike currently works for several public sector companies serving the fire service across North America including Hughes Fire Equipment and Emergency Technical Decon.

The V Foundation, in partnership with Emergency Technical Decon and Emergent, has officially launched the Turnout for Firefighter Cancer Research Fund. Pairing the best-in-class researchers with proven, preventative technologies in the fire service, the Turnout for Firefighters Cancer Research Fund is looking to industry leaders and communities across America to join us in the fight to combat the high occupational cancer rates within the fire service.
